Weekly Wake-up

Trying something new!
Alright everyone, this is one for the indecisive people amongst us. Here we’ll cover all the base café drinks and next week we will cover the slew of espresso specific drinks.
Americano (cuppa joe)

An Americano is just espresso that’s diluted with hot water, as it’s watered down you can taste the flavours of the coffee a lot more than that of drinking straight espresso. This one is for those who want strong coffee flavour and usually either little to no milk. A good choice for my lactose intolerant readers!
Long Black (small cuppa joe)

I don’t wanna upset anyone here but a long black is just a very small americano but with the shot done second and poured on top of the water. Ideal if you like strong coffee as an americano, but stronger!!!
Latte (The Very British Pick)

The latte is for those not wanting much caffeine or not liking the overpowering flavour of coffee. Everywhere is doing these differently but you can usually expect a large drink, usually with 1 shot of espresso rather than 2 and a lot of steamed milk!
Cappuccino (The Oldie)

The Cappuccino is commonly one of the strongest drinks on the menu as this hug in a mug froth cup is espresso and very foamy milk, due to the foam the espresso isn’t diluted much and so you’ll taste the espresso more than in more diluted drinks such as the latte, or in some cases a flat white. Ideal if you like the taste of coffee and want foam and chocolate involved too.
Flat White (The Popular One)

A flat white is a fairly small drink by standard and is made with a double espresso, it’s quite strong in flavour but is silky smooth from the milk texture and is ideal for the latte drinker wanting to push the boat out. It’s also my favourite drink to make and seemingly the most popular drink!
Cortado (The Intense One)

The Cortado is really just a tiny Flat white, it’s made with a 1:1 ratio of a double espresso to steamed milk and has a pretty strong coffee flavour. This one is for a really tired person who wants a one and done milk drink or for intense personalities.
Mocha (it’s a hot chocolate)

This really is just a hot chocolate with espresso, ideal for those who want hot chocolate but also want to stay alive for the work day ahead.
All of these coffees are just mixes of espresso with water, milk or both so don’t stress the naming to much and just try one of them from your favourite café to try something new! You can always ask the barista what they would suggest or even try their drink of choice for something different.
Hopefully this quick run through has cleared up any queries on which drink to try next! Hope you have a great week and some even better coffees!
